MP Congress withdraws order asking aspirants to be active on social media

Bhopal: Few days after Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had asked the ticket aspirants to have a strong social media presence in order to get a chance to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections, the party has withdrawn its order on Saturday.

The order, signed by MPCC vice-president Chandraprabhash Shekhar, read that all the social media related directions that were issued earlier in a letter are held withdrawn.

“The social media related letter issued by the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on September 2, 2018 stands cancelled,” the order read.

Earlier this week, the MPCC, in a letter, had issued an order directing that the ticket aspirants must have 15,000 likes on their Facebook page, 5000 followers on Twitter to be eligible to contest in the upcoming elections.

The order had further asked the candidates to be an active member on the WhatsApp groups and to like and retweet each and every post on MPCC’s official Twitter account.

The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are slated to be held later in the year.
