MP: Criminal escapes from police custody after aides attack cops with chilly power

Bhopal: A murder accused managed to flee from the police custody in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind area on Friday after his associates threw chilly powder at policemen escorting the prisoner back to Gwalior.

The incident took place while Bhim Yadav, an accused in 17 murder cases, was taken back to Gwalior jail in a private vehicle after being produced before a local court in Bhind. The police personnel took a lift in the private vehicle as they were getting late to catch a train for Gwalior.

The group of unidentified men attacked Mayaram, Vivek Sharma and Hakim Khan with chilli powder and also kidnapped a policeman named Pramod Yadav. The attackers also beat the policemen and snatched their guns.

All the injured policeman were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for the treatment.

A search has been initiated for the absconding Yadav and his close aides.
