Alleging that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced Rs 25 lakh ex gratia to the kin of MRPS activist S Bharathi only to disown responsibility for her death, MRPS founder-president Manda Krishna Madiga has demanded that the Chief Minister order an inquiry into the death of Bharathi with a High Court judge.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Krishna Madiga opined that Bharathi would not have died had the government allowed adjournment motion on Categorization of SCs on the same day. Alleging that Bharathi died only after two women constables pinned her down, he demanded that the State government release CCTV footage of the incident. “The State government was trying to cover up the police action”, he said and demanded that the Chief Minister own moral responsibility for the death of MRPS activist.
Alleging that Finance Minister Etela Rajender was speaking against Madigas, Manda Krishna demanded that the Chief Minister remove him from the State Cabinet. He also announced that they would launch protests in the two Telugu States from November 9 to 19 followed by Bharathi memorial meeting on November 20. He said they would invite women leaders of all political parties from the State to national level except TRS party to the meeting. (NSS)
