Mumbai: Police raids dance bar, rescues 16 women

Mumbai: Mumbai police raided a dance bar and rescued 16 women all aged between 20 and 25.

According to the report published in Hindustan Times, during the raid, police found 16 women hidden in a space with no ventilator. Police arrested 20 customers and 10 staffers.

Police is searching owner of Nityanand bar which is located on SV Road in Jogeshwari (west).

Talking about the case, Mr. Subhash Khanvilkar, Senior Inspector of Police, Oshiwara told that the bar has an orchestra license but they were operating as a dance bar.

Inspector Arjun Rajane who conducted the raid said that 16 women were in a 4×4 feet room.

Narrating the size of the room, he said women would have suffocated if the raid had gone on for 3-4 hours, Hindustan Times reported.

After rescuing the women, they were sent to women’s shelter in Mumbai.

Police booked owner for an attempt to commit culpable homicide and obscenity under IPC and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Dance in Hotels, Restaurants and Bar Rooms and Protection of Dignity of Women Act, 2016.
