Mumbai: Rape, cheating case booked against Kerala State secretary’s son Binoy

Thiruvananthapuram: A rape case has been registered against ruling CPM state secretary’s son in Kerala bringing embarrassment to the ruling party in the state.

The Mumbai police filed cheating and rape case against Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan based on the complaint filed by a 33-year-old woman a former bar dancer from.
The woman in her complaint alleged Balakrishnan sexually assaulted her promising marriage and that she has a child from him.

Responding to the allegations, Balakrishnan admitted he knew the woman but said the allegations were “baseless”.

Speaking to television news channel Balakrishnan said six months ago, the woman had sent a letter to him demanding Rs five crore, alleging he had married her and now has a child with her.

“I got married in 2008. There is no need for me to keep it under the wraps. This is a blackmailing ploy from the complainant,” he said.

He added he had filed a complaint in May against the woman with the Inspector General of Police, Kannur range.

The complaint was forwarded to then Kannur Superintendent of Police (SP) Shiv Vikram for further action.

but since the Lok Sabha polls were going on and due to jurisdiction issues, no further action could be taken, police sources told PTI.

The police have booked Balakrishnan under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 (cheating) and 376 (rape) said Oshiwara police station’s senior inspector Shailesh Pasalwad.

According to sources the complainant got in touch with the accused some years ago when she used to work as a bar dancer in Dubai, he said.

The accused frequently visited her dance bar and the complainant got into a relationship with him, after which the accused asked her to quit the job and promised to marry her the officer added.

The woman, in her complaint claimed that the accused had rented a flat in Mumbai’s Andheri back in the 2010 and regularly visited her. It was only last year the complainant learned he was a married man.

Last year, a travel ban was imposed on Binoy by a Dubai court in connection with a cheating case filed by the Gulf-based JAAS Tourism, which alleged that he had cheated the company of Rs 13 crore.
