Muslim body’s plea seeking permission to offer Namaz at disputed Ayodhya site rejected

Ayodhya: Dubbing the move a ‘publicity stunt’, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday not only rejected a petition by a Muslim body seeking to offer Namaz at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya but also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the petitioners.

As reported by Times Now, Al Rahman Trust, a registered body based in Raebareli, filed a petition with Allahabad HC for permission to offer Namaz in one part of the disputed site. The Trust works to propagate Islam and carries out related educational activities.

Claiming that since Hindus are allowed to perform puja at the makeshift Ram Temple situated on the disputed site, the trust had claimed that Muslims should also be allowed to offer Namaz. The plea cited that the 2010 High Court order had given Muslims right over a third of the land at the disputed site.

The petition filed by the Trust was heard in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court.
