Muslim community unhappy with political banners in Haj house

Hyderabad: With political banners flashing outside the TS Haj house in Nampally, the Muslim community in Hyderabad who is setting off on Pilgrimage is quite irked about politicizing a religious pilgrimage.

The community members have even questioned the security members for the banners that were hung from the main gate of the Haj House building right till the Haj camp.

“This is a religious affair, it is not proper on part of the political parties to hang their banners on the premises and try to gain political mileage out of the holy ritual,” said Mohd Mushtaq Malik Tehreek Muslim Shabban president.

A social activist Mr S. M. Abdul Samad questioned how did the government let in the banners come up on the premises which were a strict no until now.

“How can the TS Haj Committee keep mum when people are trying to add a touch of politics to the Haj camp? In fact, it should not encourage politicians to flag off the convoys,” he said.

The haj house at Nampally has flags of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Congress, the Bhartiya Janata Party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, and many more.

While Professor S. A. Shukhoor, special officer, Telangana State Haj Committee, said that no permission was sought for pasting using banners in the premises or outside the premises.

The Haj pilgrimages had also interrupted Congress leader Feroz Khan on Saturday while he was delivering his sendoff speech to the people to not to bring politics in to Haj pilgrimage-related event. He later apologized for his remarks
