Muslim-Dalit unity need of the hour: Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, others at T-MAS Forum

Hyderabad: 93% of the total population of Telangana State is backward but right from independence, no person representing backward classes assumed power. The reason is that SCs, STs, Minorities and Dalits lack unity. The leadership which assumed power with the votes of crores of backward class people did not do justice to them. The result is that they do not have shelter and meals for two times now. 7% of the total population is reaping the fruits of prosperity.

These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily. He was addressing Telangana Mass and Social Organisations (T-MAS) Forum on Sunday, 27th August.

Mr. T. Veerabhadram, State Secretary of CPI (M), Prof. Kancha Ilaiah, Maulana Hamid Husain Shuttari, Ms. Vimala Akka, Mr. Das Ram Naik, Mr. J. B. Raju, Ms. Jamila Nishad, Mr. Nayeemullah Shareef, Mr. Iqbal Javeed, Mr. Abdul Quddus Ghori, Mr. Mohammed Abbas, Mr. Dharma Naik and social activists of leftist movements addressed the gathering.

Continuing his address, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told that there is a need for us to understand the value of our votes which is our important weapon. Now, the time has come for us to get united. If there is an atrocity on any Dalit, all the Muslims should protest against it. In the same manner, if the Muslims are victimized in any part of the country, Dalits should become the voice of the Muslims. Once unity is established among us, the incidents like Dadri will not recur. There is a need to start social engineering.

He expressed his good wishes and congratulated the leaders of T-MAS Forum.

Mr. T. Veerabhadram expressed his anxiety on the killings of innocent Muslims and said that Central and State Governments have totally failed to control such incidents. Muslims have great expectations with the PM but he did not say anything about the welfare of the Muslims. The same situation prevails in Telangana also. The authorities are making an attempt to play with the sentiments of Muslims, SCs, STs, BCs and Dalits by curbing their democratic rights and suppressing the freedom of thoughts.

Imposing a ban on Dharna Chowk is an incident of curbing the democratic rights to protest against the Govt. If anybody protests against the abolition of Dharna Chowk, he will be put behind the bars. He said that leftist parties are making an attempt to take the political struggle of injustice to its end.

Prof. Kancha Ilaiah told that an attempt is being made to ban the eatables for the Muslims whereas the Muslims taught the country the style of eating and dressing the clothes. So long as unity is not established among us, we cannot fight against the fascist forces. He further told that in the name of justice, interference is being made in the religious matters of Muslim women whereas, for the atrocities that are being done to the Dalit women in Hindu society, no action is being taken. He demanded the Central and State Governments to allow Dalit women into the temples. They should first take action against the assaults of Dalit women and then take care of the Muslim women. Muslim women are the followers of an organized religion. He mentioned that the mentality of RSS has been exposed due to the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s incident.

Ms. Vimala Akka told that the lynching incidents and the encounter killings of Maoists are the black spots on the functioning of democracy in India. On this occasion, she presented a song against the barbarism going on in the country in the name of cow slaughter and said that eating and drinking anything is the right of any Indian citizen. There is no need for us to take a lesson from the fascist forces.

The other speakers also congratulated the organizers for forming this forum.
