Oslo: A teacher lost his job after he refused to shake hands with women while greeting them. Later, he filed a case and alleged discrimination.
According to the report published in Zee News, the man who is a Muslim was appointed as a substitute teacher at the Ekeberg Elementary School in Oslo, Norway. He alleged that he was subjected to violence and racism.
Defending his refusal to shake hands with women, he said that in Islam, it is not permitted.
It may be mentioned that the man is a well-qualified teacher.
Meanwhile, the officials at Ekeberg confirmed that before hiring the teacher, they were aware that he is against shaking hands with women.
Currently, Norway’s anti-discrimination organization OMOD is reviewing the case.
