Muslim women hold massive protest march against triple talaq Bill in Jaipur

Jaipur: Thousands of Muslim women took to streets on Wednesday to protest against triple talaq Bill. Women wearing Burqa held a silent protest demanding a rollback of triple talaq Bill. The protest was led by All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s member Yasmeen Farooqui. The women were carrying placards demanding that the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017, be withdrawn by the Central Government.

The protest march started from Char Darwaza and culminated at Muslim Musafir Khana. A sea of burqa-clad women emerged on the roads of Jaipur. This was said to be a historic and unprecedented protest march in Jaipur in which more than one lakh women participated.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Governor which stated that “Muslim women are against the Bill and the protest rally sent out a strong message to the government to not interfere in the religious rights guaranteed by the Constitution.”

Yasmeen Farooqui said “If at all Modiji is concerned for the Muslim women lets grant us reservation like other marginalised communities. I assure him Muslims will empower socially and financially”.
