Karnal: Muslims offering namaz at a masjid were thrashed at Newal village in Karnal, Haryana. According to sources, a dozen people barged into the masjid; they first abused the devotees then later they thrashed them. The miscreants broke the wall of the masjid and damaged sound system. The incident took place at around 9.15 pm on Wednesday, when some members of the Muslim community were reciting Azaan.
After the incident, Muslims lodged a complaint with the Kunjpura police Station.
The victims alleged that some people attacked them in the masjid, stopped from reciting Azaan and warned that there should be no Azaan sound in the masjid nor namaz should be offered. Otherwise, they warned of dire consequences.
Police said it is investigating the matter and strict action would be taken against the guilty
A case has been booked against six persons, including Bablu, Mangal, Subhash and three others, under Sections 295, 323 and 506 of the IPC.
