NAB receives threats of headquarters being blown, says chairman Javed Iqbal

Lahore: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, (R) Justice Javed Iqbal claimed that some miscreants had threatened to blow up the NAB headquarters.

The NAB chairman made the revelation while addressing officers at the NAB’s Lahore complex.

The threats were received after the bureau initiated investigations in mega corruption scandals in Punjab, Iqbal said.

The NAB chairman pledged to continue the war against corruption.

“Our struggle against corruption and malpractices will continue,” Dawn quoted Iqbal as saying.

The NAB chief said the organisation will safeguard Pakistan’s interests by eliminating corruption from the country.

The anti-graft body “looks at cases, not the faces”. It had nothing to with the elections, he further added.

“Some people want the anti-graft body to arrest politicians so that they become political martyrs ahead of the elections. But the NAB makes arrests on the basis of merit in cases under investigation, not on anyone’s wishes,” Geo News quoted Iqbal as saying.

He concluded by saying that corruption cases would be forwarded to accountability courts with evidence.
