Nabam Tuki files fresh petition in SC challenging President’s rule in Arunachal

New Delhi: Former Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Thursday filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court challenging imposition of president’s rule in the state.

Earlier, the apex court issued notices to the Centre and the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh (J.P. Rajkhowa), seeking their responses to a Congress Party challenge of the Centre’s decision to impose president’s rule in the state.

A five-judge constitution bench headed by Jjustice J.S. Khehar has asked the centre for reasons for the cabinet’s decision to impose president’s rule.

The governor has been asked to tell the court about when he made the recommendation for president’s rule.

The cabinet on 24 January recommended president’s rule in the state which was approved by President Pranab Mukherjee the next day. (ANI)
