Nagender read TRS written script: Uttam

The Congress party on Monday accepted the challenge posed by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for holding early elections to Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Addressing a press conference after the TPCC extended meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here, Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was strange that the Chief Minister was challenging opposition parties for early polls through media. Instead, he said KCR could directly meet the Governor today itself seeking dissolution of Assembly and fresh elections. Stating that the Congress party was fully prepared to face elections whenever they are held, he said that the people of Telangana would be liberated from the misrule of TRS a few months earlier.

Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed regret over the former minister D. Nagender leaving the Congress party. However, he said it was more regretful that Nagender read out a script given by TRS alleging that a particular section was being neglected in the party. He said Congress is the only party that ensures social justice and Nagender got umpteen opportunities and top positions, both in the party and government.

The TPCC Chief alleged that KCR has been using wrong survey reports to mislead the people. He also accused the Chief Minister of indulging in cheap politics.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also informed that three new AICC Secretaries, appointed by the Congress High Command, have been assigned various responsibilities. Each of them will take care of organisational and other related activities in the assigned Lok Sabha constituencies and the concerned Assembly segments. AICC Secretary N.S. Bose Raju will be in-charge for Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Medak and Chevella; Saleem Ahmed will be in-charge for Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool (SC), Nalgonda, Bhongir, Mahabubabad (ST) and Khammam and Srinivasan Krishnan has been assigned Adilabad (ST), Peddapally (SC), Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Zaheerabad and Warangal (SC). Each AICC Secretary, on an average, will be handling about 40 Assembly segments which will also have one TPCC Secretary as coordinator. He said the entire focus would be on strengthening the organisation at all levels.

Earlier, AICC Telangana In-charge Secretary R.C. Khuntia introduced the newly appointed Secretaries to the media. He said several issues pertaining to the organisation were discussed during the TPCC’s extended meeting. He said it was decided to complete the constitution of committees from booth to State levels at the earliest. He said the new Secretaries would stay in the allotted constituencies for a month to supervise the activities.

Kuntia reiterated that the Congress party was ready to face the elections anytime in Telangana under the leadership of Uttam Kumar Reddy. He alleged that KCR has been trying all means to return to power by cheating the people. However, he said that the TRS would only face rejection in the next polls. He said that only Congress could guarantee social justice while TRS is being run by only section. He said unlike Congress party, TRS could never have a SC, ST or BC as its president. (NSS)
