Naidu expresses concern over students’ suicides

 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep concern over rising number of suicides by students.

Addressing the Pratibha Awards ceremony here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said students have been taking lot of pressure about their students. He advised both parents and teachers not to pressurise the children for higher marks and ranks. He said every student should be allowed to study as per his capability and talent. He said one cannot expect every child to be to be a topper. He said unnecessary pressure for marks and ranks would only increase mental pressure on students which is consequently resulting in few of them committing suicides.

Naidu also advised that the usage of mobile phones should also be reduced. He said technology should be used only when needed and students and youths should be protected from their excess usage.

The Chief Minister also informed that his government was taking several measures for promotion of Telugu language. He said an order would be issued soon to make Telugu a compulsory language in all universities from next academic year. (INN)
