Naidu to participate in World Economic Forum meet at Davos from Jan. 20

Setting the stage for the flow of future investments, a high-level delegation, led by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, will participate in World Economic Forum’s 46th annual meeting to be held from January 20 to 23 in Davos, Switzerland.

Buoyed by the overwhelming success of the Partnership Summit recently concluded in Visakhapatnam, the Andhra Pradesh Government is all set to capitalize on the enormous brand image acquired during the event for the Davos meet. Building on “Brand AP”, the Chief Minister will project Andhra Pradesh as the best investment destination before the heads of the countries and CEOs, while explaining the State’s achievements in agriculture, water resources, technology and health. The Chief Minister is the only State head, who has been invited to attend the World Economic Forum Summit. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan are the other dignitaries from India, who will attend the Summit.

For the WEF event on the “Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the Chief Minister has been invited as a special guest and will be attending the session along with ministers of other countries and CEOs. Some 2,000 to 2,500 delegates from various countries from the fields of business, IT, government and politics will participate. The theme of this year’s annual meeting of the WEF is ‘Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution’. The Fourth Industrial Revolution refers to the fusion of technologies across physical, digital and biological worlds, which is creating entirely new capabilities and dramatic impacts on political, social and economic systems.

During the Summit, participants will engage in discussions on how these innovations and intersections promise to change life in new and unforeseen ways and will affect every industry and society, while learning how humankind can benefit from this revolution while addressing its challenges. Taking a seminal role in shaping the dialogue at the Annual Meeting 2016, the Chief Minister will participate in sessions on the following topics: Steering Committee Meeting – Future of Urban Development Services , A new Climate for Doing Business , India and the World , Industry Governor’s Policy Meeting for Infra and Urban Development , A new vision for Agriculture – Advancing the Action Agenda , Transformation Meeting – Energy Demand Reinvented and Future of Manufacturing.

Other Co-Chairs of the Summit, include Mary Barra, Chief Executive Officer, General Motors, USA, Sharan Burrow, Secretary-General, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Belgium, Satya Nadella, Chief Executive, Microsoft, USA, Hiroaki Nakanishi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hitachi, Japan, Tidjane Thiam, Chief Executive Officer, Credit Suisse, Switzerland, Amira Yahyaoui, Founder and Chair, Al Bawsala and Global Shaper of the Tunis Hub.

The Chief Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with industrialists, businessmen and experts from various fields. The Chief Minister will hold meetings with delegates from Nestlé, Johnson Controls, Trina Solar, Siemens, McKinsey, Lockheed Martin – Airbus, Acciona Energy, Spain, JETRO, UBER, Hanwha Q Cells, Philips, Antwerp Port Authority, Swiss Re, Roland Berger, Hewlett Packard Enterprise – PES Foundation, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Marriott International, Medtronic, McKinsey, Salesforce and Intercontinental Hotels. He will also hold a meeting with RBI Governor Prof Raghuram Rajan and a multilateral meeting with Prof Klaus Schwab.
