Naidu seeks Russians’ help to make AP a logistics hub

Soon after a meeting with Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St Petersburg Evgeny Gregoryev, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Sovcomflot’s Maritime Safety Training Institute in Russia.

Sovcomflot is Russia’s largest shipping company, and one of the global leaders in the maritime transportation of hydrocarbons, as well as the servicing and support of offshore exploration and oil & gas production. Alexey Prokofyev, CEO represented the SCF Group.

The Chief Minister highlighted the 973 km coastline in AP and plenty opportunities it offers and his dream to make AP a logistics hub. He set straight his vision to make AP the gateway to Southeast Asia. The CM sought possibilities of cooperation with SCF group for setting up a multimodal transport system for the movement of goods via ports, waterways, and canals.

Later, the AP Chief Minister asked Alexey to send a delegation of experts to assess the opportunities and potential in AP. Naidu also held a meeting with Dr Georgy V. Antsev, General Director, Chief Designer from Concern Morinformsystem Agat. It’s a government company which manages and coordinates the entire Russian Naval Fleet.

The company controls the Russian navy’s overall command and control system in Moscow. As part of ‘Make in India’, they are exploring possibilities of coming to India. The Chief Minister explained about the advantages AP possessses in high technology, naval technology systems and manufacturing. (NSS)
