Sangh abuses national awardee Malayalam actress for eating beef on TV show

Calicut [Kerala]: Right-wing Hindutva groups abused national award winning Malayalam actress Surabhi Lakshmi for eating beef during a TV show aired on Onam day.

According to the news published in India Today, On Malayalam Channel Media One, in a special Onam program which was aired on the Thiruvonam day, the actress was seen eating beef curry.

During the program, Surabhi relives her memories of her brother’s hotel. She also tasted her favourite dish beef fry with Kerala Parantha.

Reacting to this, right-wing forces through social media heavily criticized actress. Few even suggested boycotting the actress.

Responding to this criticism, the actress told to media men that the hunger is a basic instinct of life and whenever she feels hungry, she doesn’t care if it is beef, chicken or pork.

However, Sangh activists criticized and posted derogatory comments against the actress and Media One. They alleged that the channel deliberately hurt the religious sentiments.

Meanwhile, Managing Editor of the news channel, Dawood did not take these comments seriously.

It may be mentioned that Malabar region of Kerala is well known for non-veg cuisine.
