National-level teenage swimmer commits suicide

Ghaziabad: A 16-year-old national-level swimmer allegedly committed suicide inside her house at Govind Puram area of the city, police said today.

Saira Sirohi’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room by her younger sister around 1.30 am. She then informed the police, Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal Sharma said.

However, no suicide note was found from the house, Sharma said.

The girl was a student of class XI in Delhi Public School and had won several medals in swimming.

Her father Jaydeep Sirohi had taken voluntary retirement from service in 2013.

The body has been sent for postmortem, the SP said.
