Islamabad: Nawaz Sharif remark that Pakistan had a role in Mumbai attacks in 2008 triggered a row in his country.
During an interview with Dawn newspaper last week, Sharif had pointed to a Pakistani hand in the 2008 attacks.
Pakistan National Security Committee (NSC) the top civil-military body on Monday condemned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about the Mumbai attacks, describing them as “incorrect and misleading.”
A meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) headed by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was held. NSC termed it very unfortunate that the opinion arising out of either misconceptions or grievances was being presented in disregard of concrete facts and realities. The Committee unanimously rejected the “allegations and condemned the fallacious assertions”.
Army chief General Qamar Bajwa, the two other service chiefs, ISI head Naveed Mukhtar and National Security Advisor Nasser Janjua attended the meeting.
However, Sharif stuck by his remarks and said he said nothing wrong.
