Nayani heads Cabinet Sub-Committee for Jail reforms

A Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to bring in reforms in Jails. Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy will be the chairman and ministers K Taraka Rama Rao, Etela Rajender, Indrakaran Reddy as members.

Changes will be brought in the existing Acts to give stringent punishments to those criminals committing acid attacks. Those convicted will be sentenced from 10 years to the life imprisonment. The fine collected from the convicts will be given to the members of the victim’s family or victims.

Amendments will be made to the Acts to incorporate the changes as follows: A Reservoir will be constructed at Malkapur in Station Ghanpur Constituency to stabilize Devadula Ayucut;  Instead of Kanthanapally Barrage, a barrage will be constructed at Tupakulagudem on Godavari River; Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects have been abolished ;  Surplus staff in several departments will be shifted to the departments where there is workload ;  A Fisheries College will be set up at LMD Karimnagar ;  Following the completion of Bhakta Ramdas Lift Irrigation Scheme much ahead of the schedule, it is decided to identify Lift Irrigation Schemes, which can be completed on fast track. Minister  T Harish Rao, Deputy CM  Kadiam Srihari, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao will study the LI schemes.

Measures to be taken to expedite the 2 BHK houses in the State ;  Construction of Government offices, Offices of the Police to be completed within a year;  Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has asked all the ministers to carefully study the Union Budget and plan the proposed State Budget department wise.
