NBR 2017: Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Post’ bags Best Film award

Washington: Steven Spielberg’s upcoming American historical period drama ‘The Post’ has bagged award for the Best Film of the year at The National Board of Review.

The National Board of Review announced their top honorees recently.

The movie’s lead actors Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep also bagged trophies for Best Actor and Actress of the year.

These awards are the latest mention of excellence by the National Board of Review.

Helmed by the ace director Steven Spielberg, ‘The Post’ also stars Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood.

The film, which is all set to hit the theatres in India on January 12, is all set to bring the powerful trio of Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep for the first time on celluloid.

The film revolves around a cover-up that spanned four U.S. Presidents pushed the country’s first female newspaper publisher, Kay Graham (Streep) of The Washington Post and its hard-driving editor, Ben Bradlee (Hanks), to join an unprecedented battle between journalist and government in publishing the Pentagon Papers.

The organisation’s Gala will be held on January 9, 2018 in New York.
