Neither got job nor compensation, don’t know how to take care of children: narrates Ansari’s widow with tears rolling down her cheek

New Delhi: Though we got justice neither had we got compensation nor job. There’s no bread earner in our family. I have 4 daughters a son and old mother and father in law to feed. I don’t know how to make both ends meet, said the widow of Mazloom Ansari, who was abducted, beaten and hanged from a tree in Latehar in the Indian state of Jharkhand in March 2016, while tears rolling down her cheeks. She was narrating her sad tale before the journalists at press club of India, New Delhi.

Ansari’s widow was accompanied by mother of Imtiyaz Khan Najma Bibi, Mazloom Ansari’s brother Afzal Ansari, Imtiyaz Khan’s father Azad Khan and President Popular Front of India Mohammed Hanzala Shaikh. They said though the court pronounced life sentence to 8 convicts no case has been booked against the key accused Vinod Prajapati. They also expressed fear that as the court has pronounced death sentence it is likely that the convicts could be granted bail by the High Court. If it happens they will again harass the victims. They can even be a threat to the life of widow and children. Ansari’s widow told that they are threatened by the supporters of convicts.

Hanzala Shaikh told the presspersons that they have submitted a writ petition in the court demanding compensation and government job.

Imtiyaz Khan, a 13-year-old schoolboy and Mazloom Ansari, a 32-year-old cattle trader, were beaten with sticks and axes, and hanged from a tree by the gau rakshaks, when the two had been walking with their oxen to sell at a cattle fair.
