Netanyahu: Israel ‘responding forcefully’ to ‘wanton aggression’

Washington: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanayahu said Monday that military strikes on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip are in retaliation against “wanton aggression.”

“As we speak, Israel is responding forcefully to this wanton aggression,” Netanyahu said during a visit with President Donald Trump at the White House, in reference to an earlier rocket strike blamed on Hamas.

“Israel will not tolerate this, I will not tolerate this,” Netanyahu said.

Trump expressed condolences for the rocket attack, which lightly wounded seven people, and said that the United States backs Israel’s “right to defend itself.”
