New e-policy to check Traffic woes: KTR

To ease off traffic snarls and jams in the city and districts the state government is coming up with a new e-parking policy to be operational by year end. The policy will be first implemented on experimental basis in densely populated corporations under three Commissionerates purview in the twin cities and then expanded to other districts. This was informed by Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao here after holding a meeting with GHMC officials, Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy and city police commissioner Mahender Reddy.

Since everyday 700 new vehicles are coming onto the city roads adding to regular traffic problems and the new e-policy will sure checkmate the problem he felt. It will be operational in December next to full extent he said. The e-policy for parking was prepared after holding several meetings with the officials by conducting a study in other states and nations he said.

The government plans to offer some sops like tax exemption to building owners for providing parking place and will provide parking facility at public, private, government and other open places. The plan is on PPP and private and government partnership mode. (NSS)
