New Chief of Police for Telangana State

M Mahender Reddy on Sunday took charge as the Director-General of Police (In-charge) of Telangana State on Sunday. Reddy who took charge from Anurag Sharma, thanked the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao for giving him the responsibility as head of the State police. Efforts will continue at making Telangana a crime free State and focus will be on implementation of friendly policing, he said. There were many challenges post bifurcation and the police tackled them effectively. “Also, issues like child sexual abuse, crime against women and others were given due importance and dealt with utmost attention,” Reddy said. Mahender Reddy is the second DGP of Telangana State. A graduate in civil engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal, he got selected for IPS in 1986. Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner (law and order) VV Srinivasa Rao took charge as in-charge Hyderabad Police Commissioner on Sunday morning. (Photo: Zabi)
