New strategy of KCR to test TRS popularity: One MP, an MLA to resign and seek reelection

Hyderabad: President of TRS and CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR is getting ready to formulate a new strategy for getting grand success for his party in the General Elections of 2019. In order to gauge the popularity of TRS, he would advise an MP who has joined TRS after defecting from his party to seek reelection. In the same manner, an MLA of TRS will also be advised to face a by-election. For the implementing of this plan, the names of Mr. V. Sukhender Reddy, MP from Nalgonda and Mr. C. Ram Mohan Reddy, MLA of Makhtal are making rounds. It is understood that the consent of both these leaders has been sought for tendering resignations. In view of this, Mr. Sukhender Reddy and Mr. Ram Mohan Reddy will tender their resignations to Speaker of Lok Sabha and Speaker of TS Assembly respectively. TRS will nominate them again to test the popularity of the party.

Mr. KCR has already decided to appoint Mr. Sukhender Reddy as the convener of Coordination Committee for Farmers in view of his vast experience. With this move, Mr. KCR wants to achieve three motives. The first one is that Mr. Sukhender Reddy will get cabinet rank as the convener of the Farmers’ Committee and the second is that Mr. Reddy would be able to erase the scar which he got as the defected MP. The third one is that Mr. Reddy would be fulfilling the desire of Mr. KCR to have a litmus test for assessing the popularity of TRS. It will also serve as the pre-poll survey. By getting these two leaders re-elected from the same constituencies, Mr. KCR wants to send a message to the people of the State that the status of TRS is very stable and it is maintaining its popularity. If this strategy of Mr. KCR gets the desired results, it would boost up the morale of TRS party workers. It remains to be seen how far this strategy of KCR would meet with success.
