No 12% reservations, less budget for Minorities

Hyderabad: TRS had promised to enhance reservations for Muslims upto 12% within four months of its assuming power but it did not fulfill its promise even after the lapse of four years. Muslims had demanded to raise their budget to Rs. 5000 crore but it did not happen. Govt. enhanced only Rs. 800 crore in the next year’s budget.

It may be mentioned that Govt. enacted a law for the creation of SCs and STs Development Fund under which Rs. 9693 crore have been allocated. The act makes a provision to transfer the unspent balance of this special fund to the next financial year whereas this provision does not exist for Minorities.

According to the Census 2011, the population of STs is 32, 87, 000 for which Rs. 8063 crore have been allocated. The SCs are 15.45% of the total population of the State and an amount of Rs. 12,709 crore has been allocated for them. BCs constitute 52% of the total pollution of the State, for them Rs. 5920 crore has been assigned whereas Muslims constitute 12% in Telangana but only Rs. 2000 crore has been allocated in the financial year 2018-19.
