No party will get clear majority in Lok Sabha elections: Sharad Pawar

Mumbai: Senior parliamentarian and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar claimed that no party will gain a clear majority in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He further said that there would be a change in government at the Centre and also in Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar told this while speaking at India Today’s Mumbai Manthan event in the Maharashtra capital.

India Today has quoted Sharad Pawar as saying, “I don’t think that the power equations will remain the same in the state [Maharashtra] and at the Centre in 2019. There would be changes in both Maharashtra and New Delhi.”

Pawar likened today’s political situation with the one in 2004. ‘It does not seem possible for a single party to remain in power in 2019. No party would have that mandate’, he said.

Pawar said BJP leaders strive to make the elections as Modi vs Rahul, but we won’t let it happen. We will decide leadership after elections. He claimed that people of the country want change. And 2019 will bring a change in leadership. On the question of his PM’s candidature, Pawar said he doesn’t fly high.
