No possibility of Common Civil Code: AIMPL

New Delhi: A delegation of All India Muslim Personal Law Board met Chairman Law Commission of India and said that any changes or amendments are not acceptable in Islamic family law. Speaking to presspersons here at Press Club of India, the delegation members said the plan of the combination of personal laws of various religions or Common Civil Code is not feasible in the multicultural country like India.

The members categorically said Muslim personal laws are God’s commands, no worldly power can amend them. Maulana Jalaluddin Umri told that the Commission had sought written reply regarding Muslim personal laws. The Board after consulting with the muftis and scholars of all the schools of thoughts of Muslims submitted the reply to the Commission.

Maulana Umri further said we have made it clear to the Chairman that there is no possibility of Common Civil Code in the country nor Muslim Personal laws can be amended which we have been following for 1400 years.
