No takers for Urdu Course; University of Hyderabad to scrap it

Hyderabad: Thanks to the indifference of Urdu speaking people towards the Urdu language, the government is also systematically trying to wipe off the Urdu language. As the Urdu speaking people are preferring other languages to Urdu, Urdu language courses are being scrapped from universities.

The University of Hyderabad is not offering Urdu course in the academic year of 2018-19 as there are no takers of a course in the language offered by the University of Hyderabad. According to UoH VC P Appa Rao, they had received just five applications last year for Integrated Masters (IMA) course in Urdu, therefore, they have decided to discontinue IMA Urdu course this year.
