Surgery cured Pragya Thakur’s cancer, not cow urine

NEW DELHI: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur opted for mastectomy surgery to prevent recurrence of malignancy, said a surgeon from Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences denouncing her claims.

As per reports published in Times OF India, Dr. S.S. Rajput, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, who has operated on Thakur three times, said that she was diagnosed with stage – 1 cancer of aggressive nature.

“I have operated upon her thrice – in 2008, 2011 and 2017 — to check spread of cancer in her body,” Dr Rajput told TOI.

“Prison authorities brought her to JJ Hospital, Mumbai, where I was an empanelled doctor. In due course, a lump was identified in the upper quadrant of her right breast, which was removed. Lab reports suggested the lump was benign,” he said. In 2011, the surgical site developed swelling and she suffered pain. “She reached out to me again. I surgically removed two-thirds of her right breast. Samples was sent for microscopic assessment and grade one, but aggressive breast cancer was confirmed thereafter,” he stated.

A bilateral mastectomy was performed at on her in 2017 at the RML in 2017 after Ms. Thakur was granted bail.

The prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case came to him for a follow-up later and her test reports were clear.

Earlier, the BJP’s candidate from Bhopal claimed she got rid of breast cancer after consuming ‘panchgavya’ (mixture of cow dung, urine, milk, curd and ghee).
