NRC: Sanaullah, declared ‘foreigner’ walks out of detention camp

NEW DELHI: Kargil war veteran Mohammad Sanaullah on Saturday walked out of a detention camp in Assam after being declared as ‘foreigner’, reports Hindustan Times.

The released of an ex-Army officer comes a day after Bench of Justice Manojit Bhuyan the Gauhati High Court passed the order granting him interim bail with a bail bond of Rs. 20,000.

Sana Ullah, who had served the Indian Army for 30 years was detained from his house in Satgaon by the police on Tuesday, May 28 and sent to a detention camp in Assam’s Goalpara district after the Foreigner Tribunal at Boko on May 23 passed the order declaring him a non-citizen.

He was later sent to detention camp six days later.

Born on July 30, 1967, to Mohammed Ali, Sanaullah is a resident of Kolohi village under Boko Police Station is a genuine Indian citizen. He completed his schooling from Champu Para Government High School.

Sanaullah, 52, as per records, joined the Indian Army in 1987. He served in the Indian Army for three decades and upon retirement as Honorary Captain in 2017 took up a job with the Assam Police as a Sub Inspector in the Border Branch.
