Odisha CM launches Nirman Kusuma Yojana

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched the “Nirman Kusuma Yojana” to provide financial assistance to children of construction workers for pursuing technical education.

The Chief Minister said the government will bear cent per cent financial cost for the children to study in government ITIs and engineering diploma institutions.

Under the scheme, the government provides Rs 23,600 financial assistance to each student for pursuing an ITI course.

It gives Rs 26,300 financial assistance for pursuing polytechnic and diploma courses in government institutions.

A total of Rs 1.09 crore financial assistance has been deposited in the bank accounts of 1,878 beneficiaries for the 2018-19 academic session.

“Under this scheme, the dream of the construction labourers to provide their children with higher education will come true,” said the Chief Minister.

Patnaik said the financial assistance given to the daughters of the registered workers for pursuing education from class six to Post Graduation (PG) has been enhanced by 20 per cent.

Besides, the ex gratia amount for the death of registered construction workers has also been doubled, said the Chief Minister.
