Dhubri: One person was arrested today with counterfeit demonetised notes with face value of around Rs 2.9 lakh which he attempted to deposit in a bank here.
Nur Alam (22), a resident Fakirganj village in this district, went to the bank’s Bajaar branch here to deposit the fake notes. Bank staff found all the notes, each having face value Rs 500, to be counterfeit, a police official said.
After being informed by the bank, the person has been arrested and fake currency notes of face value Rs 2,86,500 has been seized, police said.
