One knocked down by RTC bus –Toddy hut set on fire

Hyderabad: A 37-year-old person died after a speeding RTC bus hit his motorbike when he was attempting to take a U-turn near the KPHB bus-stop here on Monday. The deceased was identified as Shankar Nath.
According to Police, Shankar Nath was trying to take a U-turn when the bus hit his bike and left him with fatal injuries.

The police took the bus driver into custody and are examining CCTV footage from the area to know what exactly happened. People in the locality have, however, alleged that Shankar Nath was driving in an inebriated condition after having toddy at an illegal toddy shop operating in the same area.

The police said they have arrested two persons who were allegedly selling toddy illegally from a hut nearby. Angry people including the relatives of the deceased set fire to the hut. However, police said they were yet to verify whether the accident and the hut set on fire were connected.

The body of Shankar Nath was shifted to hospital for autopsy. Cases have been registered in connection with both incidents and investigation is on. (NSS)
