Operation Raksha Gyan Shakti to be launched on Nov 27

New Delhi:: In a bid to increase self-reliance, the Ministry of Defence will launch Operation Raksha Gyan Shakti on November 27 to increase Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) filing in design with an aim to reduce the transfer of technology and dependence on foreign companies.

The project will be formally launched by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, said Secretary Defence Production Ajay Kumar. He added that training has already started and about 5,283 personnel have been trained till October. The aim is to train 10,000 personnel in the year 2018-19.

Between April to October this year, 204 new IPRs have been filed. Earlier, right from the start of the Defence Production Units (DPSUs), 133 IPRs were filed till March this year.

A tweet from the Defence Spokesperson read, “@DefenceMinIndia to launch Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti aimed at boosting IPR culture in defense on 27 Nov. Part of sustained hard work to promote self-reliance in Indian defense industry. Stellar role played by revamped DGQA.”
