Opposition getting trapped due to political miscalculation post demonetisation: Govt.

New Delhi [India]: Coming down heavily on the opposition for their unwarranted barb directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government on Tuesday said some are voicing concerns post demonetisation as if they are the biggest sufferers, adding they are now getting trapped due to their political miscalculation.

“The corrupt are suffering due to demonetisation. But it will benefit the poor. They have been saying foul against the move from the very beginning. The people have supported it despite facing difficulties. Some political parties are shouting in such a manner as if they are the biggest sufferers,” Union minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told ANI.

“They should have supported us in this fight. Somewhere this is their political miscalculation. They are getting trapped in their political miscalculation,” he added.

Dubbing the Narendra Modi government ‘deaf and dumb’, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday targeted the Prime Minister, saying the one-time ‘chai-wala’ has now become a ‘Paytm-wala’.

“The Prime Minister used to call himself a ‘chai-wala’ (tea seller) before. Now he has become a millionaire ‘Paytm-wala’ (one who endorses e-wallets like Paytm),” Mamata said addressing a public meeting in West Bengal’s Bankura district.

The Trinamool supremo also accused the Prime Minister of not understanding the real situation in the country and blatantly promoting some private companies. (ANI)
