Hyderabad: The world famous Osmania University was established by the VII Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan. Its old logo contained Quranic verse and a tradition of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) which highlighted the importance of the acquisition of knowledge.

Over a period of time, Urdu and Arabic inscriptions were replaced by Telugu and Hindi texts in the logo.

CM of TS, Mr. KCR pays tributes to the late Nizam and acknowledges his contribution. He should take a note of it for the restoration of old logo.

Mr. Baqueri, President and Mr. Saber Ali, Secretary of Anjuman-e-Masoomeen and other office bearers appealed to the Government to instruct Osmania University authorities to restore the old emblem.

It may be mentioned that the Arts College Building of Osmania University is declared as a heritage structure and tampering any inscriptions of this building is unlawful as per the archaeological act.

They have also appealed to the descendants of the late Nizam to take initiative in this regard.
