Saharanpur: Bhim Army chief and Dalit leader Chandrashekhar, who has been in jail since June last year was released from prison at 2:24 am by UP Government on Friday prior to his scheduled release on November 1, 2018, on humanitarian grounds.
After coming outside the jail, Ravan told ANI that “The government was so scared that they are going to be rebuked by the Supreme Court, that they ordered an early release to save themselves.”
Chandrashekhar further took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government and said that he will ask his people to vote BJP out of power in 2019 elections.
“Govt was so scared that they are going to be rebuked by Supreme Court, that they ordered an early release to save themselves. I’m confident that they’ll frame some charges against me within 10 days: I’ll ask my people to throw BJP out of power in 2019”, said Chandrashekhar while talking to ANI.
Chandrashekhar was arrested under National Security Act (NSA) charges in connection with 2017 Saharanpur violence involving Dalits and upper caste Thakurs.
On May 5, 2017, one person was killed and 16 people, including a head constable, were injured during clashes between the Dalits and the Rajputs in Shabbirpur and Simlana villages.
