Being Overweight, Obese Cuts Lifespan By One To 10 Years: Study

PARIS: Being overweight shaves about a year off one’s life expectancy, a heavy price which soars to 10 years for the severely obese, a large-scale study said Thursday.

Published in The Lancet medical journal, the paper refuted earlier findings that carrying a few extra kilos poses no perils, pointing to evidence that death risk grew “steadily and steeply” in line with corpulence.
