Owaisi-Ambedkar formally announced alliance in Aurangabad rally

AURANGABAD: The Hyderabad-based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) formally inaugurate their electoral alliance on Tuesday at a grand public rally in Aurangabad.

Marking a new dimension in Maharashtra politics, the BBM is led by Prakash Ambedkar while the Owaisi’s AIMIM had last month announced to jointly fight the upcoming Lok Sabha and state Assembly election.

Waris Pathan, Imtiaz Jaleel, the AIMIM legislator from the city, were also present at the rally.

Reasoning the tie-up, Owaisi told the massive gathering: “In India, and particularly in Maharashtra, if there is any section that is most backward and living below the poverty line, whose most youths are unemployed and who is facing the oppression and bias of the government, it is Dalits and Muslims.”

“Several parties have ruled the state, but they did little to improve a lot of the two communities,” he said. He asked the gathering to stand behind Prakash Ambedkar. He promised Prakash Ambedkar, a prominent Dalit leader and grandson of Dr. B R Ambedkar, that AIMIM would stand strongly behind him.
