Pacquiao signs off boxing career on winning note

Johannesburg : Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao signed off his illustrious 21-year professional career with an emphatic win over American Tim Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The 37-year-old, who has not competed since his last year’s defeat against American rival Floyd Mayweather, knocked down Bradley twice to win a unanimous 12-round decision, Sport24 reported.

Pacquiao remained dominant throughout the match, with the former throwing 33 punches in the opening round in contrast to Bradley’s 19 punches.

Bradley tried to push Pacquiao, but all his efforts went in vain as the Filipino finished his farewell bout by identical margins of 116-110 on all three cards.

Pacquiao had earlier announced he would call curtains to his illustrious career after Bradley’s bout in order to concentrate on politics, where he is seeking to win a senate seat in May elections in Philippines.

With the win, Pacquiao has also improved his career record to 58 wins, with only six defeats in 66 bouts he had played in his professional career. (ANI)
