Pak nationals detained for supplying weapons Afghan insurgents

Kabul [Afghanistan]: Afghanistan police has arrested at least four people including two Pakistanis for supplying weapons and ammunition to insurgent groups in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The men were arrested during an operation from Momand Dara district, the Tolo News quoted the provincial government as saying in a statement.

The suspects were held while they were trying to transport eight rounds of rocket launcher missiles in a vehicle to the militants, the statement further said.

The statement further mentioned that two of the suspects have admitted that they belong to Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan while the two others are residents of Momand Dara district.

However, it was unknown that the suspects were transporting the rockets to which group of insurgents.

Nangarhar is home to several Taliban insurgents as well as the loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist groups.

Earlier on Friday, at least twenty terrorists belonging to Pakistan and ISIS were killed in a joint military operation conducted in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

Anti-ISIS as well as anti-Taliban operations are underway to eliminate the presence of terrorists in Nangarhar province and the U.S. forces are providing airstrikes support to the Afghan forces during the operations. (ANI)
