Pak PM forms panel to probe allegations into Pathankot attack

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday formed a six-member committee headed by Additional Inspector General of Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to investigate allegations into the Pathankot airbase attack, reported Radio Pakistan.

According to Prime Minister House spokesman, the investigation team will probe the allegations regarding the involvement of some individuals in the Pathankot attack.

Additional Inspector General Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab Rai Tahir will be convener of the committee, while Additional IG CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan, Director IB Lahore Azeem Arshad, Director FIA Lahore Usman Anwar, Brigadier Noman Saeed of ISI, and Lt Col Irfan Mirza of Military Intelligence will be its members.

Earlier, a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sharif was held in which the decision to send Pakistani investigation team to India was taken.

Pakistan has arrested several members of outlawed Jaish-e-Muhammad and sealed offices. The leader of the banned group, Masood Azhar, and his brother Abdul Rehman Rauf were also taken into protective custody for interrogation. (ANI)
