Islamabad : Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Wednesday briefed Islamabad-based envoys of the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group about the ongoing tensions on the Indian side of Kashmir.
A press release issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office said that Islamabad conveyed “serious concern over the brutal killings of innocent civilians and violation of their fundamental human rights by the Indian Security Forces.”
The envoys from Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Niger were briefed by Chaudhry, said the Foreign Office.
Appreciating the continued support of OIC member states to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the realization of their right to self determination, the Foreign Secretary said Muslims on the Indian side of Kashmir look towards their Muslim brothers at this difficult time.
Chaudhry added that in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood, the OIC member states should raise their voices against what he called “blatant human rights violations of innocent Kashmiri Muslims.”
Chaudhry also emphasized that such “inhumane and oppressive measures” would not deter the people from demanding their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
The Foreign Secretary had earlier briefed the ambassadors of five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council that include China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and the US on the same issue.
Chaudhry had also appealed to the international community and the UN Security Council to call on India to “respect the human rights of the people of Kashmir and implement UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.”(ANI)
