Pakistan: Former CJ challenges Imran’s ability to hold public office

Islamabad: Imran Khan, the cricketer turned Politician is now again caught in political turmoil after former CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has challenged his eligibility to hold public office over allegations of him fathering a child out of wedlock.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief is alleged to be the father of 26-year-old Tyrian White, daughter of now-deceased British Millionaire Sita White, TOI reported.

With the upcoming elections in Pakistan, this is another big blow to the PTI Chief after his estranged wife’s book controversy.

It was in 1997 when Imran refused to give his DNA sample to verify paternity as claimed b Sita White. She later won a default Judgement in the paternity suit against Imran in a Los Angeles court.

Speaking at an interview, Chaudhry said that his party – Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, would now file objections against PTI Chief’s nomination papers where he mentioned only about his sons leaving Sita White.

“We shall take the case against him in the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that the party would invoke the legal precedent which disqualifies politicians for dishonesty.

However, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhary, said it was just a desperate move to get attention.
