Pakistan-India ties will improve after elections: Imran Khan

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said Pakistan will have better relations with its neighbours including India after the upcoming general elections, claiming that Islamabad has taken the first step on a new path to peace and progress.

His comments came after tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the February 14 Kashmir suicide bombing that killed 40 CRPF troopers.

While announcing the major visa reforms at a ceremony in Islamabad to attract tourists and investors, he stated: “Pakistan will have better relations with its neighbours – including India after the end of their elections.”

“We will have good relations with all our neighbours and a peaceful Pakistan will be a prosperous Pakistan,” he added.

The General Election in India is going to start from April 11 and to end on May 19. The election is going to held in seven phases and the counting of votes will be held on May 23.

Mr Khan said “This is the first step to open up the country, the Naya (new) Pakistan,” it would revive the confidence of the 60s when Pakistan was making fast progress, he added.

He said that Pakistan’s major visa reforms would attract religious tourism from all over the world. He also announced that the next season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be organised in Pakistan instead of Dubai.
