Karachi: Reports of two Hindu sisters allegedly kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam in Pakistan have been doing internet rounds and now the Indian authorities have demanded an inquiry into the matter.
The video was made viral on social media which showed the two Hindu sisters forcibly married after being converted to Islam in Pakistan’s Sindh province has triggered protests by the minority community, News18 reports.
The two allegedly kidnap girls aged around 13 and 15, Ravenna and Reena are in the news for the all the false fake rumors circling the two sisters.
Challenging this video, another video has emerged out which shows the two sisters happily embraced Islam and claimed no one has forced them to get married.
The Pakistan’s minority Hindu community has carried out massive protest demanding action to be taken against perpetrators.
Meanwhile here in India, External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said on Twitter that she has asked the Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to send a report on the incident.
Replying to Swaraj, Pakistan’s information minister on Sunday afternoon said a probe has been ordered in the matter by the Prime Minister Imran Khan.
None of the sources have yet confirmed the authenticity of the videos shared on the internet nor did the sources confirm the news to be true.
An FIR has been in the matter by the girl’s brother who has alleged that few days ago their father had got into an argument with the accused which had let to these circumstances.
A Pakistan Muslim League-Functional MPA Nand Kumar Goklani, who had initially moved a bill against forced conversions, urged the government to get the law passed immediately.
We demand the government to take up my bill and get it passed without any delay, he said.
Goklani said: “The fact that the two girls were underage confirmed it was a crime and they couldn’t show free will on getting married or conversion to Islam”. “One of the accused persons has been arrested, while the police were conducting raids to arrest the others,” a senior police official of Ghotki district said.
