Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said if the Narendra Modi is not elected the prime minister again then Pakistan “could attack the Indian Parliament and Assam Assembly,” adding that “the other political parties in the state are scared of those shouting Pakistan Zindabad.”
Addressing an election rally in Nagaon district’s Kampur, Sarma said: “If we do not bring Modi sarkar back to power in India and Assam again, the Pakistan Army or terrorists will probably come and attack the Indian Parliament and Assam Assembly, and the Prime Minister will not have the courage to retaliate.”
Referring to the Air Strike in Pakistan following the Pulwama attack, he stated that “Within a short span of time, he gave a befitting reply to Pakistan, If we do not assemble under the leadership of Narendra Modi, then the people who shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ will destroy the centuries-old Assamese culture.”
“New India” can retaliate and has the courage to act against Pakistan, he added. Sarma also said after the Pulwama terror attack on February 14, around 130 people had been arrested in Assam for allegedly praising Pakistan on social media.
“Just think about it, that in Assam we have given birth to such power, that they have the courage to write ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on social media. How did this happen?”, he added.
According to the report published in the Indian Express, he said the BJP will act against “Pakistani agents” who entered Assam and his party is committed to working against terror activities with a zero-tolerance policy.
